Thank
You President Obama
by Denny Scott
I am an American who is a proud decorated veteran of Korea. I am very weary of
hearing the right wing attack President Obama with half truths and blatant lies,
I would like to point out just some of the accomplishmen ts of the Obama
administration.
Shortly after taking office, President Obama was able to get legislation through
Congress that prevented our nation from sinking into the abyss of another
depression. These efforts included saving the American auto industry which has
now repaid all their government loans – ahead of schedule.
Thank you President Obama.
Even though many on the far right have demonized it and attempted to mislead the
American people, the President was able to get healthcare legislation enacted
that has already greatly improved healthcare for millions of Americans. This
legislation will bring about even more healthcare improvements in future years.
Thank you President Obama.
He has led our nation in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Neither war was
initiated by him.) He has brought the war in Iraq to a successful conclusion.
The terrorist Osama Bin Laden was brought to final justice by our military under
the command of the President.
Thank you President Obama.
He was able to get legislation through Congress to hold Wall Street accountable
and end taxpayer-funded bailouts. This legislation ensures that, if a financial
company fails, it will be Wall Street that pays the price—not the American
people. This legislation also protects consumers from unfair financial practices
and makes sure that credit card companies and mortgage and pay day lenders have
to follow the rules.
Thank you President Obama
As a member of the middle class, I am glad that the President is aggressively
taking steps to put Americans back to work and restore middle-class security for
decades to come. For years before the economic crisis, middle-class security had
been slipping away but, mostly due to the tireless efforts of the President and
the hard work of the American people, our economy is now improving.
Thank you President Obama.
The President signed the Lilly Ledbbetter Fair Pay Act, making progress in a
decades-long battle for women to get equal pay for equal work.
Thank you President Obama.
As part of his work for more fairness for all Americans, he has ended the
military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. Now all American’s are equally
eligible to serve in the military – regardless of their sexual orientation.
Thank you President Obama.
These are only a few of the many accomplishments or our President. He has done
these things and
much, much more during his
entire term including the past two years when he was faced with an
obstructionist and purely politically motivated Congress. On behalf of all
Americans, I will again say
thank you, thank you, thank you President
Obama.
The far right can attempt to belittle and lie about President Obama but the
truth about his impressive record will be made known to the American people. I
hope, pray and believe that he will continue being our President for four more
years.
